The Rev. Dr. Albert Jones is the 7th child out of 11 siblings born to the late Rev. William Jones Sr. and Mrs. Irene Jones. He is married to Sis. Carolyn Jones. They have six children and eight grandchildren. He is a native of Ladson, SC and attended Charleston public schools.
Rev. Jones is a graduate of The North Carolina College of Theology with a Bachelor’s degree in biblical studies, a Masters, and Doctorate in Theology. In 1974, he enlisted in the US Army and retired in 1995 after serving 21 years. He was called to preach while stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in 1989. In 1992, he was ordained as an itinerant deacon, and ordained an itinerant elder in 1995 in the 12thEpiscopal District in Little Rock, Arkansas and transferred from the 12th District to the 7th District in 1995.
He served as a supply pastor in March 1996 at Mt. Carmel AME Church, in Charleston, SC. In 1996, he was transferred from the South Carolina Conference to the Central Conference from 1996-2000 as pastor of the Branchville circuit (Bethel and Zion AME Church) Orangeburg District. He served as the pastor of Mt Olive AME Church in the Providence Community of Holly Hill, SC, the Orangeburg District from 2000-2010. He served as pastor of Shiloh AME Church, Elloree, SC, Orangeburg District from 2010-2014.
Rev. Jones is a member of Bethel AME Church, in Ridgeville SC, the Charleston District of the South Carolina Conference. In November 2014, he was transferred from the Central Conference to the Northeast Conference, Marion District and is the proud pastor of Bethel AME Church, Britton’s Neck, SC.
His favorite scripture is taken from 1 John 4:4, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” and Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
